INTRODUCTION

It’s an ultralight system designed for playing short sessions solo or with a group without a GM. No preparation is required, though you’ll need at least a premise and a general idea of the kind of game you want to explore—pure freeform. It runs on a single page, 2d6, and your imagination. You can also incorporate the setting, rules, and characters from your favorite TTRPG or fiction. Character sheets aren’t necessary: just a bit of information and the names of the protagonist, their companion, and their pet. Develops scene by scene.

HOW TO PLAY

First, imagine what your DESIRED SCENE (1) would be. Then, roll on the NARRATIVE RESPONSE (2) table where you get a phrase describing how the world reacts to your wishes and actions. Next comes the REINTERPRETATION (3) inspired by the NARRATIVE RESPONSE, having a desire doesn’t mean it happens that way. That is essentially the mechanics of this ttrpg. Quick and easy!

Desired Scenes was designed primarily for my own enjoyment, and secondly for the One-Page RPG Jam 2025. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me in the comments.
